With the arrival of Web 2.0 and the proliferation of social networking, clouds, mobile applications, crowdsourcing, and citizen scientists, GlobalLab evolved to leverage these trends in educational settings. In 2008, Dr. Berenfeld launched GlobalLab 2.0 in Russia and Eastern European countries (globallab.ru) with support from Intel Education, the Russian National Training Foundation, and the Dynasty Charitable Foundation. Dedicated to adapting the best technologies and pedagogy for learning, GlobalLab is now expanding worldwide with assistance from the Skolkovo Innovation Foundation and VEB Innovation Fund, an award from Microsoft, and in cooperation with UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.
Hundreds of schools and users now participate in GlobalLab and we are expanding the project into the United States and other English-speaking countries, with Spanish-speaking countries and others to follow. GlobalLab is on path to becoming a global learning resource.
